The Story of the Holy Spirit Image
When I was in junior high school, my Catholic school offered a woodcarving class taught by an energetic nun. This dedicated Sister of the Presentation of Mary taught us the basics of woodcarving, and beyond that, how to find the creative spirit within us. As the years progressed, I continued to develop my skill by focusing on hand carving religious items such as the Praying Hands, the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and other spiritual designs of the cross. I developed this hand carved Holy Spirit image over many years. I made them for charities, friends, and family who faced serious health care challenges or the loss of a loved one. Every person to whom I have given a hand carved Holy Spirit Cross has told me that looking at this image has giving them strength to face life’s challenges. Over the past year, I reflected on other ways to share my symbolic creations of support, faith, and comfort, which is where the idea of the pendant originated. I hope to use royalties from this product to fund scholarship opportunities at this Catholic middle school so more students can have the same opportunity that I enjoyed. God Bless, Richard Carriere |
